People of Barcode

Get to know the people who work in Barcode.

Meet Peter from restaurant Stock, the restaurant manager that always has a smile on his face.

Newspaper Dagens Næringsliv has this to say about Peter Mejlhus, restaurant manager at STOCK, in a review of the restaurant: "a wonderful, charming man". Of course we agree. Peter comes from Denmark, and moved to Norway in 1994. Since then he has worked in the restaurant business.

-The guests usually take a trip down memory lane when they hear that I am danish - a trip to Legoland, or a beer by the port of Skagen. It makes people relax, and start smiling. I like mye job, enjoy talking to people and I am always in a good mood. When people are happy, I feel even better! And, knock on wood, people are just that when they are here at Stock.

Shoot Gallery 2

Meet Helene Gulaker Hansen. She is the owner and manager of Shoot Gallery. Her passion in life is her job. Photography has been one of her interests since she was a child, when her father came home from job travels in Tokyo with new cameras in his trunk. Her father's job for Canon made Helene fascinated with photography, a fascination that just developed with age.

After an education in economy she started working in the advertising industry.

-I was drawn to the creative and visual. I would sit next to the art directors at work. Eventually I caved in, and applied to photography and design at St. Martin's in London when I was 29.

After she finished her degree, she worked with advertising, moving towards photography and art. She realized art photography was almost non existent as a field in Norway. That is how Shoot Gallery came to be. Two years after starting out, she moved to Barcode.

-10.000 people work here. The location, potential and being part of the Barcode environment made me move my gallery here.
